Senior Management

  1. Walter Vrataric, President and Chief Executive Officer

    Served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Chinook since December 2013.  Walter served as the President of Chinook from May 2012 until December 2013 and Vice President, Business Development and Land of Chinook from June 2010 to May 2012 and prior thereto, of Storm Ventures International Inc., a predecessor corporation to Chinook from March 2010 to June 2010.   Prior thereto, President and Chief Executive Officer of One Exploration Inc. (oil and gas company) from September 2006 until January 2010 and prior thereto, Vice-President, Land of Rock Creek Resources Ltd. (oil and gas company).

  2. Tim Halpen, Chief Operating Officer

    Served as Chief Operating Officer of Chinook since May 2012.  Tim served as the Vice President, Exploitation of Chinook from June 2010 until May 2012 and prior thereto,  the Manager Reservoir Engineering to Storm Ventures International Inc., a predecessor corporation to Chinook from January 2010 to June 2010 and a consultant to Storm Ventures International Inc. from September 2009 to January 2010 .  Prior thereto, Vice President, Engineering of Wilderness Energy Corp. (oil and gas company) and prior thereto held various engineering positions of increasing responsibility with Cometra Energy Ltd. and its purchaser Vintage Energy (Canada) Ltd.

  3. Jason Dranchuk, Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer

    Jason joined Chinook in July 2014.  Since 2010, Jason was the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Zargon Oil & Gas Ltd. (a publicly traded oil and gas exploitation company).  From 2002 to 2010, Jason held the Vice President, Finance and Controller positions with Zargon.  Prior thereto, Jason was Corporate Controller of two oil and gas service companies and also worked at a public accounting firm.   Jason graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1993 and received his Certified Management Accountant and Chartered Accountant designations in 1995 and 1999, respectively.

  4. S. Brent Dube, Vice President Production

    Served as Vice President, Production of Chinook since March 2012. Brent served as a production consultant for Chinook  from November 2011 to March, 2012.  Prior thereto, Brent held managerial and executive positions with increasing responsibilities at several smaller oil and gas companies.  Brent brings an extensive background in production engineering, completions and drilling operations.  Brent graduated in 1985 with a diploma in Production Technology from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, and is a Certified Engineering Technologist with the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists.

  5. Ryan White, Vice President Drilling and Completions

    Served as Vice President, Drilling and Completions of Chinook since January 2012.  Ryan served as Manager, Drilling and Completions of Chinook from June 2010 to January 2012 and prior thereto of Storm Ventures International Inc., a predecessor corporation to Chinook.  Ryan has been instrumental in building and executing successful drilling strategies and programs.  Ryan has a solid progressive background in independent consulting and management positions in drilling, completions and production engineering.  Ryan graduated with a diploma in Petroleum Technology from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1993, and is a Certified Engineering Technologist with the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists.

  6. Darrel Zacharias – Vice President, Exploration

    Served as Vice President, Exploration of Chinook since January 2012.  Darrel served as Manager, Exploration Western Canada of Chinook from January 2011 to January 2012 and  Senior Geologist at Chinook from Mary 2010 to January 2011.  Darrel has a comprehensive oil and gas exploration background with progressive management and executive experience.  Darrel graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Saskatchewan in 1993, and is a Professional Geologist with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.

  7. Chad Lerner, Vice President Land

    Chad joined Chinook in August 2010 as a Senior Landman and was promoted to Vice President Land effective June 1, 2014. Chad began his career in 1997 at Fletcher Challenge Energy Canada Inc. and over the last 17 years has held numerous senior and management position in the private and public sectors of oil and gas.  Chad has had extensive exposure to business development activity across Western Canada having been involved in forming numerous Junior Oil and Gas Companies. Chad graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree majoring in Petroleum Land Management (PLM) from the University of Calgary in 1998 and is Professional Landman within the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.
